Where should our officers be conducting traffic enforcement in town? What kinds of enforcement do you want to see from Redmond PD?

Repurpose deactivated traffic cameras for investigations

I know the City of Redmond voted to remove the red light cameras. (Thank you) However, I'm not sure what it would take to turn them back on for the sole purpose of determining if a traffic violation was a contributing factor to an accident when they do occur. Basically, if you run a red light and nothing happens, no biggie. Usually the times I've run a light have been when there wasn't enough time to stop at the amber. ...more »

Traffic

We have live in Sundance for over a year, and the traffic on Novelty Hill Road near Union Hill is a speedway. There is constant speeding and racing going from two lanes down to one. We have NEVER seen a patrol car in this area. I would guess the average speed is 60+ mph. A traffic camera for speeding would pay for itself in a week from the fines!!!!!

Traffic Enforcement

Increase enforcement of cars blocking intersections

Normally I'm not in favor of writing more tickets, but I've noticed quite a bit of gridlock in this city is caused by people blocking intersections. It's not hard to avoid blocking an intersection as long as you're paying attention. However, blocking the intersection just causes traffic to back up in other directions. The most egregious example of this is the 40th St overpass over 520. There are 2 lanes in each direction ...more »

Stopped by a cop for subjective reasons

Hi, I was recently stopped on my way home (education hill) by a cop and given the following reason: It was obvious I was speeding because my car was too loud and it took a while for the cop to catch up. He did not have any radar gun readings. I wasn't doing anything funny on the road, just going straight on my lane on a lower gear, since I was going uphill. In the end, he let me go without even a warning, (he didn't ...more »

Pedestrian Infractions

Recently, I was stopped for speeding in a school zone. The officer justified giving me a ticket saying that I was going so fast (5 mph over) that I would be unable to stop for jaywalkers, and he said "I see them crossing in front of cars here all the time." I have no problem being ticketed when I break the law, but I do find it ironic that I must be ticketed in order to protect other law-breakers. If / when you plan ...more »

move hwy 520 HOV lane to the LEFT

Is Hwy 520 City or State? Maybe this question can be re-routed.

HOV lanes are supposed to be the smoothest and have the least amount of interruption. That is why they are on the left to avoid traffic that is exiting. From Avondale all the way to 405, there are 5 exits that slow that lane down especially 148th exit. What is the reason hwy 520's HOV lane is on the right?

Microsoft Campus / Text Messaging & Cell Phones

Why is the City of Redmond not enforcing the no texting and phone "to the ear" laws near the Microsoft Campus'. The use of cell phones between 8A and 10a and again 4p and 6p of MS employees coming out of parking lots, etc using their cell phones is out of control. They are not paying attention and the City of Redmond is doing nothing about it.

Standing water near bridge pulls car off track

When it rains hard, a lot of water accumulates and stands on either side of the bridge next to 21234 NE Redmond-fall City Rd, going East or West. It is so bad that even at 50 mph our cars (my wife's and mine) gets pulled either towards on-coming traffic or the guard rail. Very scary! I noticed when it wasn't raining, that the road has an indentation (if that's what it's called) where the bridge starts and that's where ...more »

Dismissal at Horace Mann

Dismissal at Horace Mann is an absolute mess. Collectively, the folks picking their children up with cars violate more laws than Seattle did after the Super Bowl. Please refer to the following picture: http://imgur.com/ce9t2Ss Before, during and shortly after dismissal there are folks parked legally to the side as marked. Those who come later illegally park in the bike lane and those with larger vehicles extend onto ...more »

Slow Down!

We live on eduction hill, near the intersection of NE 95th and 171st. There is a four-way stop there, and it is impressive how many people blow the stop sign or slow down and then start flooring it through the intersection. There are many children who play around the neighborhood. Is there a way to get people to start driving more cautiously in the area? There are a couple of speed bumps around, but that does not ...more »

Turning from Union Hill Road onto Avondale

There have been a number of times when I am coming off of SR520 onto Avondale Rd and either witnessed a near accident or have had to slam on my brakes for drivers turning off of Union Hill Road. If I have a green light I'll be going at 40 mph. People turning right from NE Union Hill Road will take a free right onto Avondale (I believe thinking they have an extra turn lane?) and at such a reduced speed they often misjudge ...more »

left turn signal going from 161st onto 85th heading east

There is a left turn signal only sometimes, to turn from 160th onto 85th heading east. About 1 in 20 times I am at this light (on my way home from overflow park and ride parking log) and I get a green arrow. The rest of the time I have to wait for all the bus riders to cross 85th and then all the cars, and often I have to sit through this red light multiple times before I can turn left. Why doesnt the left turn signal ...more »
